Hello there! I’m Bashnee Yonna Shah, but my students simply call me Miss Bashnee, and I’d love for you to do the same!
Teaching has been my lifelong passion for over 16 years, both in Durban, South Africa, and abroad. I’ve taught students from Grade 4 to Grade 12, as well as adult learners studying Business English online. One of my most memorable experiences was teaching at two leading international schools in China, where I guided students using the British Columbia Curriculum.
Currently, I’m a part-time e-tutor with UNISA, tutoring undergraduate students in Communication Science and Public Relations, a role I’ve proudly held since 2013. I also spent a year as a volunteer ABET facilitator, helping adult learners build confidence through education.
My qualifications include:
- BA in Communication Science, English Literature, and History of Art
- Bachelor of Education (ABET)
- Master of Education (Adult Education)
- Postgraduate Certificate in Education (English and Integrated Arts)
- TEFL and IELTS Certification
These credentials ensure that my students receive a high-quality, internationally aligned education that builds both skills and confidence.
Beyond academics, my background in music and the performing arts allows me to bring creativity and energy into my lessons. I believe learning should never feel like a chore; it should be meaningful, fun, and empowering.
So, whether you’re looking to strengthen your English, boost your communication skills, or rediscover your love for learning, I’d be thrilled to guide you.
